I recorded 1 show on a new DVD+RW disk, and *it skipped* and *skipped* and *skipped*. I can understand a dvd+rw that had been written on over and over, but this thing was fresh out of the package, and freshly formated.

For your buying dollar you are ahead to buy a VCR, and I’m not kidding. Go to a pawn shop, or ebay or somewhere and don’t even think about buying one of these things.

I still like my VCR more than my DVD+R
While I’ve upgraded the firmware twice on this thing, I have not received the dependability I get from a 5 year old vcr.

DVD+RW just isn’t as good as a VCR tape. You can get the medium just about the same price. The only nice thing, and I do mean the ONLY nice thing about this unit is if you do get a good recording you can skip its programs at the touch of a button.

It doesn’t play commercial DVDs right all the time. In fact I can’t really think of a time I have popped in a dvd movie and had it play.

Get a video card, and another hard drive for your computer. Maybe something with svideo out so you can watch movies on your tv. Because in the end a 160 GB hd and video capture card would be more useful than this dumb thing.

I just got done upgrading the firm ware on this thing again … I figure it’s working so poorly now, I might as well try it.

For the record The commercial DVDS that I’ve tried that just didn’t work were:
Starwars 3
Batman Begins

No not record these movies just *play* them.

And a few others.

This thing just isn’t working up to par at all. At the very least I would expect it to play DVDs with no hassle. I’ve never tried a CD, but I seriously wonder if it would work. Guess I’ll stop complaining, and catch you later.

Erm

[2,8,5

post-44","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-insanity","category-tech","category-things-that-get-me-mad
["GET
